I wanna playtest the game but I believe your twitter dms aren't open?

you can follow me on twitter so I can DM you the key.

(+1)

cool stuff keep up the good work

thank you :)

I've been playing for a little bit, but I have been wondering about the mood system. I don't know if it is just me but it gets lower every year without fail. Is there a way to mitigate this? Even when I had more points in relaxing than cultivating and missions combined it still went down.

I love the style of the game, very quick and easy to get back into after each restart but the mood system has me confused. Otherwise? Solid game!

In the v.0.0.6, both missions and cultivating consume moods on top of annual deterioration. The only way to stop the plummeting mood would be either resting, free time or hoping for random events that would grant you mood bonus.

It would change in the next version.

I see, interesting. Thanks for the quick reply! I hope to keep an eye on this game for sure, the mechanics are sound and the story is interesting to read.

Take care!

You're welcome :)

Definitely would like to see this progress. How long do you expect it to take for v.0.1 to take to be available when the next update comes around?

(1 edit)

Oh, I don't really understand the question (I assume that was a typo). But if you want to know about when would be the public release for v.0.1, then the answer is, when v.0.1.1 is ready.

Although I don't know the exact time.

I'm really bad at estimation, especially since I only work on the game when I do have free time (and my old laptop is not acting up). But hopefully not too long :)

Sorry if that was hard to understand, but yeah, just asking when you think it'll be up. Glad to hear it shouldn't take too long. I'm assuming it's easier now with how you've set it up rather than before?

(1 edit)

While it is easier on implementing/adding the stuff that I already did before.

But I don't know anything else beyond that because a lot of this thing are new for me. And I found in game dev, game design is equally as hard as programming. So, before I could put stuff in, I need to design it first. Which is another thing I need to learn and do.

Remember, I'm not a real game dev. I'm just a guy doing this in his free time for fun. Many days I don't even have any free times to spare.

So, I can't promise you anything more than I'll do my best :)

(+1)

Well you're already doing way better than I could.

Hopefully it will get even better :)

(+1)

So, I've only been playing this for a couple of minutes, but this looks really good. You did really well designing the UI, everything is clearly organized. You have also given me Ideas for my own projects, so thank you for that. Looking forward to playing this.

Thank you for the kind word. good luck with your project :)

Super interesting game with great worldbuilding! Currently the mood system is very strange to me as I can spend 7 months relaxing and still have it go down? But then again this is a WIP so yeah :P Very excited to see how it will develop.

Yeah, the older you get the worse the mood gets(at the start 2/3 months are enought but in the end even if you stop cultivating and put all in relaxation your mood lowers) so you end up being killed by your iner demons

Is the guy ok?

yes :)

yes

quite many time I've died actually

I am not that good..

Same with me :)

Did you die bro?

still alive :)

Is there any new updates coming out?
will this game be playable out of browser and can it be downloaded?
and what are your future plans for this game?

also great work! this game really feels like the roleplay that I used to do in my childhood

edit: I have been playing this for 2 days now!
also how do I do the crystal dragon side quest?

Is there any new updates coming out?

Yes, but limited access.

Will this game be playable out of browser and can it be downloaded?

You can try just downloading it like HTML, but I have no plan supporting it officially.

What are your future plans for this game?

I have a roadmap in the game, you can check that out. I might also put the updated roadmap later on. But mostly, I don't have an actual plan. I just develop the game for fun, and when I have the time to do it.

also great work! this game really feels like the roleplay that I used to do in my childhood

Thank you :)

also how do I do the crystal dragon side quest?

There's no side quest for that. I haven't develop it yet. Hopefully in the future. Currently, that scene was just a place holder at the moment :)

I really dig this game and it's really impressive for one person with a full-time job! It reminds me a little bit of the game "Academagia."

It's probably not your priority right now but if you ever wanted a proofreader I'd be happy to help for free; I have a good deal of editing experience, and combing through for typos and grammatical errors would be no trouble. :) Thanks for all your work!

I love "Academagia" :)

And the next version would have a link to a bug reports, so you could send me typos and grammatical errors when you have the time :)

(+1)

Hey dude love the game, tho are you alright with life and all? I saw that you don't reply to new comments and all that, I just hope you are alright.

the old laptop broke for a few months, so I just stopped checking game dev stuff until I got it fixed :)

(1 edit) (+1)

The games way too hard and u don't have time or ways to get resources or have any choices with how the story goes, it's basically up to luck

(+1)

the game is very unbalance and unfinished, with not much of a content. I apologize :)

Pls don't apologize, I just hope u take the criticisms as a way to improve ur project to sumn much more bc that's my only intention here

(+2)

wow that’s a pretty good game. cant wait for the next update

thank you. I'm glad you like it :)

(+2)

Love the game, I hope you take care of yourself while developing this great game!

Thank you for the kind word. I will do that :)

This is such a great game, it has so much potential, but I don't think it's for me, too difficult and I'm more of a casual player haha but still it gave me a good time, good lucky with the development

Thank you for trying the game. Hopefully when you try it next time, I would have a difficulty sliders the player could choose from :)

(1 edit) (+1)

1) Is it possible to reach past 3rd layer in this demo?

2) What is the requirement for accumulating Qi to breakthrough? On some runs I could reach 2nd layer in 20 years, on another run it wouldn't let me even after 30.

3) Does mood/injury affect cultivation speed and breakthrough chance?

Edit: Ignore my first question, I pushed to 4th layer.

(1 edit) (+4)

1. Yes. The max is 6th for the current version (there's no content after that). But most people could only get to 4th stage, while only the hardcore player reached 5th.

2. See number 3.

3. Yes. Mood (this is the mental state) affect cultivating speed. And both injury/qi/mood affect breakthrough chance. In the next incoming update, the inner art would also affect cultivating speed.

Good to hear! One thing I would like to point out, "Xianxia" means "immortal hero" which indicates the heavy presence of Chinese mythology elements. This is often confused with the "Cultivation" genre, which is about grinding to reach higher power levels. Cultivation genre can take place in a Xianxia, Wuxia, or Xuanhuan setting, but it can have its own setting.

After looking at your roadmap, I don't see much talk about lore. If you have your own unique lore, perhaps a different title might be suitable? It's fine if you keep it because most of us know what you mean, but I just noted that it might be not accurate.

(1 edit) (+1)

Is that so. I'm gonna look into that. If that's the case, I'm open to changing the title to something more fitting in the next update. Might as well do it while it's still early.

Thanks for the info :)

And yeah, I don't have a unique lore. Just lore from older cultivation novels with my own twist. Might evolve into something else in the future. But at this early phase, nothing is set in stone.

Developing a cultivation realms will be harder in xianxia because there a comprehension elements the cultivators reach a certain level, higher the realm the more complicated it will be. In xuanhuan in my knowledge it just like basic leveling system, to reaching higher realm pill/ rare treasure is usually good enough

I think you should test this by increasing age limit after BT a bottle neck, so people can reach lv 10 condentation eventually, and by then u just add a tribulation when peeps try to BT to foundation, and kill em instantly because heavens(you) not allows that XD

(+2)

It's already on the future plan :)

Between my job and part-time on weekends, I just lack the time to work on the game.

btw as long as you contact some authors of web novels, they would probably be happy to write some lore or at least give a foundation for lore

even crowdsourcing or having a suggestion box could probably get you the basic mechanics and some world or universe building in for at least the first 4 cultivation realms. qi - foundation - core - nascent

(+1)

The game is my attempt of learning by doing. Learning how to develop a game, learning how to write, learning how to code, how to design, etc etc while having fun. Asking someone to do it for me would defeat that very purpose.

But I've been reading the genre for a long time (19-20 years now?). I should know the basic. And I was under the impression that the current game show that I do know the basic and could write the lore myself :)

I do agree I could do better.

And hopefully, I could.

(+1)

This has the best potential of any game I've seen on here, and there is an embedded audience as it's essentially an interactable web novel, would be interested in investing in it if you are committed to making this a full game, or consistent updates at least.

PS: registered just to say this.

(+2)

I'm doing this as a hobby, so I don't know if there's gonna be a full game or a very consistent update. Sometimes, life could get in the way and I just have to take a break from time to time.

But I'm having a lot of fun doing it at the moment.

Imagine this like Dwarf Fortress, in which I would just add more and more stuff as I learn more and gain more experience in game dev. And I'm planning to do this in long term. Even if I have other projects, I would just come back to this after that project is done.

So, there you go. I can't promise you anything more than that. If you still want to help, there's a Ko-fi link on the front page. But even if you're just here as a player, your comment already made me smile.

Thank you :)

Am i just mentally deficient or why can i not get above Qi Condensation 3?

It isn't hard, one way to do it is to invest only 0-1 points in resting, 2-3 in missions, and the rest 8-9 points in cultivating.

(+1)

This is so fun! I love the grindy aspect, cultivating is a little slow. It took me about 9 or 10 years to reach the next stage. I'm excited for future updates!

Oh darn, I actually sort of thought I'd reincarnate again and again until I could finish the game with multipliers. Sort of a Idle Knight situation, that game with the knight and the amulet. Hm... it's very hard for me to keep my mental health up (haha nothing new I guess :') /hj /hj) which is the main thing, and at 35 I still hadn't reached  any new level of cultivation. I am determined to beat this game and I can't wait for updates :D

(1 edit)

Hmm I just got taken to my room for the first time but I don't really know what to do. I only have one Art and it won't equip even tho I press the button. I don't want to end the year and waste it either... I will probably figure it out like two seconds after I post this but until that time I am feeling rather stuck and dumb xD

EDIT: Ah yes, end year. Two seconds after I posted this. Mhm told you so.

i dont know if its only for me, but the update isn't working ;-;

I don't have an update yet, Miguel. I'm still working on it. I posted several days ago letting people know there's no ETA.

I don't want to make any promise about timeframe because I'm doing the game for fun. What I'll do is just keep on working on the game whenever I could, and hope it will turn out great :)

ahhh, lol ok i thought something was wrong with my PC, sorry for the incovenience :)

(+1)

No worries. You will know when I actually release the update. The title post should be the version number of the update. That's always the case for me.

thanks for the update ;)

any new update prevision?

(+1)

Still working on it :)

If I may humbly suggest, I think that the game should be a bit more varied. For example, maybe the player has more character customisation and can choose which spiritual roots they have. If they choose a more talented person, maybe they will cultivate faster but fewer arts will be available for them. I also think that adding something other than just pills into the shop would be beneficial. The lifespan thing is also kinda annoying since you gotta manage everything. I think that if a player's lifespan is extended by like a decade or two every time they advance a stage (since it takes so long to advance to another stage), it will be a lot more enjoyable.

(+1)

Almost everything you mentioned is already in my wish list of things to add in the future. Unfortunately, my free time is limited and I could only work on the game whenever I have the time. Not to mention, I'm still learning about coding and game dev.

But hopefully, this features would become reality in the future :)

(1 edit)

good game, but its too difficult. Just the fact that your cultivation slows by 2x each time you break through will make it so that even if you spend 8 months a year cultivating, when you reach the 9th level of Qi Condensation, you will only get 0.07% cultivation progress per year, which makes it impossible for you to even dream about Foundation Establishment, so I suggest that you make cultivation faster or make it so that each minor realm gives you additional lifespan because the 80 year cap is pretty annoying. I hope that this game will continue to get updated because I like it.

(1 edit) (+2)

The plan for the future is, at least on my design plans, the cultivation rate would change depending on variety of factors such as inner arts, the inner arts level, unique skills, in-born traits/talents, random events, pills/potions/herbs, artifacts, etc etc. But that's gonna be in the far future as I keep working on the game.

But in general, vanilla cultivation is always gonna be slow in this game, because you're just a normal cultivator. Unless you manage to get lucky on character rolls, fortuitous encounters, obtained other external stuff, or other things planned for the futures.

We'll see what I can come up with :)

I like very much

wait for follow

pity that i don't have money to pay for this

(+1)

Miguel, the game is always gonna be free. I have no plans to put a price tag on the game. You don't have to worry about that :)

(+1)

m quite addicted to this

wahhhh i want more att ;-;

dropped?

(1 edit) (+2)

No, just busy with real life. But atm, just started working on the game again :)

Doing the game for fun, so when I have no free time to have fun, I couldn't work on the game.

:D thanks for the reply, you got a really good game

im quite hypped for the next update, wanting to get to 8° qi refining and fight

(1 edit)

I think that it is a bit hard could you make it so that you don't always die at age 80

also, can you make it so you can get spirit stones or atleast make points the same as having stones.

Edit: could you maybe add NPC interactions?

(1 edit) (+2)

There are plans for NPC interaction, but probably still a bit far in the future. The same with spirit stones, although that would probably come earlier.

The lifespan is hardcoded atm, but it will change in the future because that also, would become a resources (ex: you could burn your lifespan in exchange for various benefits such as, forbidden art).

Have you considered making this be downloadable?

Because for some reason i can never run games directly on Itch-io.

(+1)

Atm I have no plan for that. But it might change in the future for ko-fi supporters.

The max I have reached was the 4th stage of qi condesation. Tsk. It's hard.

It seems absurd to me that even after 6 months without doing anything, half the damn time, my character doesn't stop lowering his mood, it's just that I can't do anything, especially why it gets lower and lower, at first you can juggle your way forward but it just goes down faster and faster. And besides it is unreasonable for me to pay for the Lux lifestyle because I can't afford it or my point gain becomes 0 and on top of that the difference is not noticeable at all, the difficulty is just ridiculous and the good experience is completely ruined.

I really apologize for that. The game is still very early in the development and very unbalanced. I promise I will make changes on the issue and adjust the difficulty spikes on the next update :)

the game is very interesting, but seriously, it's crazy about the state of mind and that we still don't have to deal with practice, otherwise turn it off and let's go.

I gave myself two months of relaxation and the luxury life style, and I still slipped from the depressed state to inner demons in one year. I really have no idea how this is supposed to work.

Do you have a discord?

It would be too early for me to create a discord for the game, and sadly I don't think I have enough time to maintain it :)

sad.

(4 edits) (+1)

where do i type if i have found a bug/glitch?

do i just say it here?

Love the game hope, you don't stop updating.

(1 edit)

Thank you :)

I will try to fix it in the next update.

(1 edit)

Do you want me to help you out with programming and GUI stuff? m a unity game developer...i am interested in a Xianxia text based game i lacked a writer you are one...i can provide you help...contact me on discord: Zorgon#7119....we can even make it a VN

(+1)

Pretty good, it lacks content but its a very exciting and fresh idea

(+1)

Thank you for the compliment.

Yeah, it's still in early development. It will get better as I put more hours into it. Hopefully, it will grow into a decent game for us to enjoy :)

I liked it, it's still pretty crude with just some minutes of content, but I liked the original story and the gameplay models you used

(+1)

Thank you!

It's still very early in development, so with time, hopefully, it will get even better.
